About

astrantia hadspen blood

After more than 20 years as a legal journalist and publisher, I left my job as editor of Britain’s longest-running law magazine in 2014 to travel a bit, spend time with family and friends, and qualify as a ski instructor.

I also wanted to spend more time in the garden and outdoors generally, and find ways of making plants and nature a more permanent presence in my everyday life.

Three ski seasons later, and while continuing to work as a legal journalist, I finally signed up with Capel Manor in September 2018 to formally train as a garden designer.

This website now includes not only some of my work as a legal journalist but also ski, travel and garden stories.

If you would like to discuss any editorial, publishing, or garden design project, ad hoc or on-going, please contact me using the form below with a brief description the project.

  1. Good for you and I hope you have a great time doing so. That’s a lovely part of the world you’re now in. Many years ago I drove Norway through to Finland.
